My name is Shannon and my husband is Justin, together we own Barrel & Keg.  Our store truly is a reflection of us. We opened our doors in March of 2015 and it’s been an enjoyable whirlwind ever since.  How we did we get here, you ask? Here is our story.

Growing up in California wine country, my passion for wine fueled a major career swap in 2008 when the economy tanked. I decided to leave my hotel restaurant career behind and move to Oregon Wine country to become a winemaker. I was fortunate enough to get a few harvest internships and eventually found my place working for a reputable Oregon Pinot Noir producer. I worked my way up to assistant winemaker and in 2012 I launched my own wine label, Lush Wine Company (now our house wine label here at Barrel & Keg).
In 2010 I met the love of my life, my husband, Justin. We were married shortly after in 2011.  He has always had a passion for craft beer and even does his own home brewing.  Born and raised in Silverton, Oregon. He is 3rd generation farmer and runs his families business.

The concept of Barrel & Keg was created through a lot of our dates and days off together.  I was always choosing to go wine tasting or enjoying wine maker dinners, Justin loved going to different breweries and beer tasting or making the drive up to Portland to go shopping at beer stores where we would look for something new that we hadn’t heard of.  And of course when in Portland we would always have to stop and eat from the food trucks.  WE LOVE FOOD TRUCKS! That’s where the idea for Barrel & Keg was born.  Salem needs a place to discover and enjoy great craft beer and quality boutique wines together. A place with a strong focus on supporting local brands and building community. When we were blessed with the news of our first child, Madilyn, in 2014, I spent my maternity leave developing our business plan and we decided to make our dream a reality. When the building came up for lease shortly thereafter, we knew we had to do it!
We have been truly amazed by the support Salem has shown us and we are humbled and thankful that we get to do what we LOVE and share it with you everyday.
